Wychall Primary School

Safe, Secure and Successful

Snow/Bad Weather

General Information

If the school does not plan to open in the morning, how will I find out?

We will update our school website and inform the Local Authority who will update their website & inform local radio stations, who broadcast a list of closed schools or a blanket closing of all Birmingham Schools. A text (sms) message will be sent out to all parents and carers—so please make sure we have your up-to-date mobile phone numbers.

What happens if there is bad weather during the day and school is forced to close early?

A text (sms) message will be sent out to all parents and carers as soon as the decision is made and the school website will be updated.

How can I contact school during the day if I am worried about whether the school is about to close?

Normally school closures will be notified by a text message and school website message, however if you are worried, please phone the main school number, which is 0121 464 4255.

How will children be sent home if school does close early?

We will stay with children as long as it takes to ensure that they are safely released. If you send another person than yourself to collect your child, as long as they are on your contact list, or they give the password, which you will have previously set up with school, then we will be able to release your child.

Please bear in mind that it can be a particularly busy time and we will endeavour to communicate with you as quickly as possible. Thank you for your support.
